"Altering The Way You View The World Of Art"

Music plays an integral part of life in nearly every culture and vary widely around the
world. Musical instruments serve to identify a culture's predominant characteristics:
lifestyles, occupations, and domestic and religious activities.  Drums, clappers, and
rattles are among the common musical instruments of African cultures.

Used in religious rituals, celebrations, and to communicate, these instruments were
important tools of the societies.  For example, gourd rattles may be used in rain dance
ceremonies; dancers may wear rattles around their waist, necks, or ankles.  Often,
different pitches coincides with the rhythm of the dance.
